Call For Paper

The Indonesian Regional Science Association (IRSA) is preparing its 6th International Conference in Jogjakarta, August 13-14, 2004, titled “Regional Development in Transition: Governance, Public Services, and Eco-tourism”. The conference is intended to be a media for scholars, practitioners, and policy-makers to discuss and exchange theoretical and empirical findings on the issue of regional development and transition economy with
particular focus on the aspect of governance, business climate, informal sectors, public services, poverty, equity, tourism, and the environment. It is also hoped that through this conference participants will exchange experiences and also build strong networks for future research, policy discussion, and practical collaboration.

It is expected that participants of this conference will contribute to the following regional perspective (but not limited) topics on: governance and business climate, economic growth and development, informal sector and employment, poverty and income inequality, health and education services, infrastructure development, financing aspects of regional development, governance and institution, management of water and sanitation, management of natural resources, eco-tourism, and regional and local environmental problem. Topics that are not in Indonesian context are also wellcomed so long as its lessons learned are relevant.

Registration fee is required to participate in this conference, however, there will be limited waivers and subsidies for participants from developing countries whose papers are accepted. Please fill out the application form.

Deadline for abstract/paper submission:
Abstract must be submitted before the 1st of July 2004. To submit your abstract,
please:

1. send your abstract via e-mail to ceppsirsa@ugm.ac.id, and
2. fill out the confirmation form. Click here for the form.

Notification of the abstract selected will be on the 15 of July 2004. Person whose abstract is selected must send the whole paper (electronic files only) to the conference organiser by the 1th of August 2004 to ceppsirsa@ugm.ac.id.

Requirements of the Abstract:
The abstract should be in English. It should not be more than 1 page long in an A4 paper with upper margin and lower margin no more than 1 inch, typed with 1 line spacing, Times New Roman 12. Please note in your abstract the institution you represent.
